Death on the Trail

Today there was a sad story on Oregon Public Broadcasting about the newly found skeletal remains of a man with Alzheimer's who disappeared in June while hiking the Fort to Sea Trail between the Pacific Ocean and Fort Clatsop. His wife waited for him in vain where she was to meet him at the Fort. You can read the story here.

The trail is about 6 miles long and follows or approximates the route taken by expedition members as they traveled between their winter quarters on the Lewis and Clark River and the salt camp on the beach near present-day Seaside, Oregon. I wrote about the trail in an earlier post.
