Keeping Up With Thieves and Vandals
Yikes, it's been a whole month since I wrote the last post! I still have quite a bit I want to say on this blog, but the time has gotten away from me over the past few weeks.
I did get an interesting email from a man who is on the board of directors for the Oregon chapter of the Lewis and Clark Trail Heritage Foundation (see the link in the sidebar). He wanted to tell me two things: First, that he noticed I had mentioned in a previous post that I'd heard him and his son and their musical performance with mandolin and fiddle in the Tent of Many Voices in Long Beach, Washington, in November 2005. Second, he said that the L&C Trail Heritage Foundation would be seeking funding to replace damaged or stolen historical signs in Oregon, including a Lewis and Clark sign at the Rock Fort campsite in The Dalles.
I certainly enjoy hearing from people who've come across something that interests them on this blog--it's an odd feeling, sometimes, sending things out into cyberspace and not knowing if or when anyone reads them!

Speaking of another sort of vandalism, I've disabled the comments feature here on Trail Watch because my posts were receiving anonymous "comments," already known these days as "comment spam," despite features designed to prevent automated systems from spamming people's weblogs. One day, seventeen different posts were affected at once. So, no comments, at least for a while. But readers can always email me at home from the blog "profile" or at my university email address at kdahl@eou.edu.
